FACILITY UPDATE 3.12.20
The Burlingamer is continuing to monitor the situation in our area regarding the COVID 19 flu and will update members as the situation changes.
As of now, we are continuing with all activities as scheduled. We are following all city and county health directives. We have scheduled a deep cleaning for the building for March 13th and will be sanitizing all equipment. There are two sanitizer dispensers at the front of the building (1 by the bathroom and the other at the hallway entrance by the workout area and we will be adding more around the facility. To help insure we are doing our part, please review the precautionary procedures below.
On-Field Modifications:
- Replacing high-fives with “elbow-bumps”
- Making an effort to minimize contact between kids and coaches
Requests for Refunds:
- For families that are enrolled in the current session, we are offering make-up classes through the end of the summer.
Please advise your player of the following precautions to take during this time, to prevent the spread of all illnesses:
- Provide their own water bottles and not share.
- Modify pre/post activity high fives. – elbow bops/foot taps
- Reminder to teams/coaches relating to hygiene, laundry, and not sharing equipment (safety equipment, pinnies, etc).
- Avoiding unnecessary contact (such as high fives, huddles before or after activities, ect).
- Each player should carry disinfectant wipes as well as hand sanitizer.
- Do not come to practice/game if you have a fever, cough, or other flu-like symptoms.
It remains important to take standard precautionary measures against respiratory illness, including:
- Avoiding close contact with those with cold and flu-like symptoms
- Covering your nose/mouth when coughing and sneezing with a flexed elbow
- Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
- Cleaning your hands often by washing them with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains 60%–95% alcohol. Soap and water should be used if hands are visibly dirty. It is especially important to clean hands after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose.
Most importantly, stay informed. Information about best practices for preventing the spread of infectious diseases will be shared as available. For scientific or technical questions, we defer to certified authorities such as San Mateo County or the CDC.
